Gujarat Contractors Association opposes GST, calls Mahasammelan on June 30

Ahmadabad: Gujarat Contractors Association(GCA) has called a Mahasammelan of contractors on June 30 to oppose the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime which is to be implemented from July 1 this year.
With the implementation of GST, 18% tax on works contract will be levied. The new tax structure will have additional burden of 8% to 12 % on existing Government Contractor and construction work, Arvindbhai Patel, Chairman, Gujarat Contractors Association today said.
”We will decide the future action in Mahasammelan. We will also discuss the implications of GST structure regime and the impact on the Construction industry,’ he said.
Notably, GCA organised a meeting on June 21 in which it was unanimously decided to oppose the new GST structure and make presentation to the Government.
