October 16, 2017
By Mahesh Lad, Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speech at Gujarat Gaurav Mahasammelan here today attacked former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot who is at present the incharge of Gujarat Congress.
PM said: the people of Gujarat should never forgive Congress. When I introduced Sujalam Sufalam project to supply Narmada water to areas of North Gujarat, neighboring state Rajasthan had Congress government in power led by then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. They wrote a letter to Gujarat government asking that Gujarat should not lift water for Sujalam Sufalam project as Rajasthan has right over it. I said I was preventing water from merging into sea and just diverting it, but Gehlot continued to insist that we should not lift water. They gave us notice conveying that we can’t lift water without getting nod from Rajasthan government. That letter from Ashok Gehlot is even today in possession of Gujarat government. Those who played with future of North Gujarat, that Congress leader from Rajasthan, come here to teach us a lesson? Sujalam Sufalam saved North Gujarat, saved farmers, supplied water, they the Congress men opposed it.
