MCI approves 370 new MBBS seats in four medical colleges of Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Medical Council of India(MCA) has approved 370 new seats for MBBS course in various medical colleges in Gujarat. With the availability of total medical seats in Gujarat has jumped from 3830 to 4200. This information was shared by Health minister Nitin Patel today here, adding that new MBBS seats are approved in medical colleges at Vadodara, Surat and Jamnagar and upcoming new self finance medical college in Palanpur.
Patel said, the Govt medical college in Jamnagar will have availability of 50 additional MBBS seats while the medical colleges in Surat and Vadodara will have addition of 100 and 70 seats respectively. Palanpur district medical college will have 150 new MBBS seats.
Nitin Patel added that these colleges are equipped with facilities to start the first academic session which shall commence from next academic calendar.
Gujarat had 3830 approved MBBS seats. With addition of these 370 seats, the total number will be 4200. 12 years ago, in year 2005-06 there were 1525 MBBS seats available in Gujarat. The number has now reached 4200.
