3 Km wall protecting Dandi and Dabhadi against sea dedicated

Rs 8.55 crore protection wall was dedicated on Thursday in southern Gujarat’s coastal Dandi and Dabhari villages near Olpad to protect them from rapidly advancing sea.
While Dabhadi village has got 413 meter wall at a cost of Rs 2.69 crore, another village Dandi is now protected against sea by 2.5 km long wall built at a cost of Rs 5.86 crore.
Both villages were facing sever problem of erosion of land and salinity due to advancing sea water. Dabhari has coastal present at three sides. Every year during monsoon, the people living on the shore had to shift due to threat of advancing sea waters.
