Abhay Bhardwaj and Ramila Bara, BJP candidates for Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: Abhay Bhardwaj and Ramila Bara are two candidates of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat. As per the strength of BJP in State assembly, both candidates will win comfortably.
Abhay Bhardwaj is leading criminal lawyer based in Rajkot. He is active in party’s legal cell. Bhardwaj is former chief of Rajkot Bar Association. He is founder of Parshuram Yuva Sanstha. Bhardwaj had been a member of Law Commission. He belongs to Brahmin community. Bhardwaj had contested assembly election from Rajkot as independent candidate in year 1995.
Ramilaben Bara was MLA and Chairman of Tribal Development Corporation. She was BJP candidate for Khedbrahma seat in North Gujarat during 2017 general elections of Gujarat assembly. She had won assembly by-poll in same Khedbrahma seat in year 2004. Ramilaben has been the Vice President of Gujarat BJP for three terms. She had been guardian of party for Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. A tribal woman from Sabarkantha district, she started her career assistant teacher in Vijaynagar. After passing GPSC exam for class-2 post in government she worked in Ahmedabad and later in secretariat in Gandhinagar as class-1 officer. She became Deputy Secretary and took voluntary retirement in year 2002 to play a role as active BJP worker.

– Experience in representing various Multinational Companies, Educational Institutions, Corporations, Hotels etc. in commercial litigation before District Courts, High Courts and Supreme Court of India.
– Pro-bono represented 69 accused in the Gulbarg Society Massacre Case – epicenter of 2002 Gujarat riots – and got acquittal for most of the innocent accused.
– Drafted and represented several PILs including Wildlife trust’s PIL challenging translocation of Lion from Gujarat (Gir) to Madhya-Pradesh (Kuno) and got stay from Supreme Court.
– Currently representing the Government of Gujarat, as Special Public Prosecutor in the controversial Jayanti Bhanushali murder case and Pradeep Sharma anti-corruption case.
– The clientele varies from MNC to poor litigants (who are being represented pro-bono).

– Joined as press reporter in Jansata, a regional newspaper, at the age of seventeen and was made Desk-editor at the age of 18, the youngest Deskeditor
