Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has today announced former MLA and minister Kiritsinh Rana’s name as party’s candidate for Limbdi assembly seat by-poll. Rana has represented Limbdi assembly seat in the past. The seat is vacant following resignation of Soma Ganda Patel, then Congress MLA from the State assembly.
With this, BJP has declared candidates for all 8 assembly seats that are going to witness by-polls on November 3. Congress has so far declared five candidate. Congress has not declared the name of candidate for Limbdi seat yet.
Efficient and locally popular, Rana has been MLA of Limbdi more than once. However he has suffered defeat as well that are largely linked to caste politics here. Voters of Koli community have majority presence in Limbdi assembly constituency. BJP candidate Kiritsinh Rana belongs Kshatriya community, while rival Congress candidates happen to be from Koli community.
Congress might once again hope to win the seat through Koli card. However Rana has defeated Congress candidate surpassing caste dominated politics in the past. DeshGujarat
