Surat: A clash between Umra Police and the students of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University took place during the celebration of Navratri by the students in Surat yesterday.
It is learnt that around 7 students were injured in the fight. A program for celebrating Navratri was organised for the students of the departments and hostel of the university. Umra police had told the students to wear masks and maintain social distance at the celebration which caused agitation among some students. It then turned into a fight between the police and students. The police held some students and took them to Umra Police station following which other students reached there and protested for the same. The students argued that the police wrongly interfered in their celebration despite having organised it after taking permission. DeshGujarat
