Kevadiya Railway Station in Gujarat renamed as Ekta Nagar Railway Station

Statue of Unity: Kevadiya railway station in Central Gujarat which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi last year will be now called ‘Ekta Nagar’ railway station. This announcement was made by Minister of State for Railway, smt Darshana Jardosh.

In her tweet last evening she said that Railway ministry has given approval for change in name of Kevadiya railway station, the place that houses India’s symbol of unity, the Statue of Unity. Now onward, this railway station will welcome the travelers from the country and the world as ‘Ekta Nagar’ railway station.

According to Divisional Railway Manager, Vadodara, the station code of Ekta Nagar railway station will be EKNR – 08224620.

It’s worth noting that, after inauguration of Statue of Unity in November 2018, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat had in a function made announcement that the location of Statue of Unity will be developed as Ekta Nagar.

Kevadiya, a village in East-Central Gujarat has several attractions that are named with the word ‘Ekta’ (Unity) such as Ekta mall and Ekta cruise. The location marks Ekta Divas every year on 31st of October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel with a parade in presence of Prime Minister. World’s tallest statue here was named as Statue of Unity by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
