Gujarat AAP Chief Gopal Italia detained, released in Delhi after AAP create ruckus at NCW office

New Delhi: NCW (National Commission for Women) chairperson Rekha Sharma today tweeted about a ruckus outside her office as Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers staged a protest outside.  AAP Gujarat chief Gopal Italia was later detained from NCW office by Delhi Police and taken for questioning.

In another development, Italia has been released after 3-Hour detention by Delhi Police from NCW office in Delhi.

NCW had summoned AAP Gujarat chief Gopal Italia today, in connection with a viral video in which he was purportedly seen using derogatory language for PM Modi and using the ‘C’ word, which is derogatory against women.

The NCW chairmen told the media persons that – ” Gopal Italia denied getting a summon but his reply is ready. He also denied his presence in the video but in his reply, he accepts tweeting. He had claimed it wasn’t him in the video.”

“His statement & written statement don’t match. He hasn’t given a proper reply. I’ve told Police too that action should be taken against him because he was creating an atmosphere to impact the law & order situation. His supporters attempted to enter(NCW office) forcefully,” she added.

Rekha Sharma also said that, “I had an important meeting at 2pm which is now delayed as I couldn’t step outside. If 100-150 people come & threaten me, what kind of a leader are they? He was supposed to come to NCW office & only answer a few questions. Why did he have to lie & bring so many lawyers? ”

Taking the cognizance of the video NCW had served a notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat chief Gopal Italia over using an indecent word for Prime Minister which was also an insult to the women.

The NCW in its notice had stated that the abusive language used by Italia is gender biased, misogynistic and extremely shameful and condemnable. NCW had asked Italia to appear before the Commission in person on 13th of October at 12.30 pm and pointed out that in default, the Commission may proceed to take such action as it deems fit.
