PM to kick off development projects worth Rs. 4155.17 crore in Saurashtra

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate and lay foundation stone for various development projects worth ₹4,155.17 crores for three districts of Saurashtra on October 19 2022 from Junagadh.
The projects include those being executed by Narmada Water Resources, Water Supply and Kalpsar project, Urban Development, Fisheries, Gujarat Maritime Board and Health Department.
Over the last one year, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel-led government has developed necessary infrastructure for these projects in several districts.
District-wise projects
Junagadh
In the near future, Junagadh is all set to get better infrastructure in various sectors. Foundation stone will be laid for Vanthali-Mendarna Part 2 water supply scheme and a godown for storage of seeds, manure and other agricultural products. This will be built under NABARD’s RIDF scheme.
Porbandar and Gir-Somnath
The PM will lay foundation stone for GMERS Medical College and General Hospital to be built at a cost of₹ 546 crore in Porbandar, various facilities and development projects for Shri Krishna-Rukshmani Yatradham at Madhavpur and Kutiyana group water supply scheme (phase 2) among others.
In Gir-Somnath, foundation stone will be laid for a fisheries harbour to be constructed at a cost of ₹834.12 crore which will benefit fishermen in Madhwad, Sutrapada and Veraval.
Umargam-Lakhpat Coastal Highway at cost of ₹ 2,440 crore
This coastal highway starting from Govda-Kalaai in Valsad district up to Narayan Sarovar in Kutch will be developed in three phases. The highway will pass through 15 districts.
The highway will not only provide direct connectivity to the villages located along Gujarat’s 1,600 kilometres coastline but also supplement various coastal security measures being undertaken. The biggest beneficiary will be the fisheries industry as the highway will give enhanced connectivity to all families dependent on fishing for livelihood. Tourism will also get a major boost as the highway will provide a smooth connectivity to places like Daman, Tithal, Somnath, Madhavpur beach, Dwarka, Bet Dwarka, Kandla, Mundra and Mandvi.
GMERS Hospital and Medical College, Porbandar
This 600-bed facility, the biggest in this region, will provide quality healthcare to lakhs of people in Porbandar, Gir-Somnath and Devbhoomi Dwarka. The hospital will be a blessing especially for people living in interior villages of Porbandar including settlements in the forest areas. Close to 700 students of Porbandar district will be able to pursue medical studies close to their homes once this hospital is built.
At present, this medical college has 330 beds, which will be increased to 600.
Other departments like general surgery, emergency, orthopedics, pediatrics, gynaecology, pathology and other important ones will also get functional.
