PM admires Gujarat for setting up new standards in organizing National Games

Gandhinagar: Admiring Gujarat for setting new standards in hosting the National Games, Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi today congratulated the Chief Minister and the officials of the State. PM Modi was speaking at a function to launch the School of Execellence Mission at Adalaj today. The Prime Minister said that the sportspersons and coaches conveyed to him that the experience in Gujarat they had was at par with global sports events. The Prime Minister observed that Gujarat’s experience in organizing Khel Mahakubh worked when it came to organizing National Games this year.

PM Modi said, “Look at the experience of Khel Mahakumbh. The government machinery got habituated to work (for sports events organizing) and it raised the interest in sports in the youth of Gujarat. The result of the ecosystem created is; when the National Games took place after many years in Gujarat last week, I heard a lot of praises. I am in touch with the players and their coaches. They gave many congratulations to me. I told them not to congratulate me, but to congratulate the CM and the government of Gujarat. It is their hard work and efforts, due to which such a large sports festival of the country could be celebrated. All the players said that they go to international games and the hospitality and arrangements for them in Gujarat were similar to it. The way Gujarat has encouraged the sports sector by making this festival successful and setting new standards by hosting such a program, Gujarat has provided a great service to the country.
