AMC begins constructing road over city area stretch of Kharicut Canal

Amdavad: Kharcut Canel on the East side of the city will not be visible in future as Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started the construction of the RCC road over the canal.

AMC, in its annual budget, laid out the project details about the construction of an RCC road on Kharicut Canel. The work for this has already begun and will be over by 2024. Mosquitoes, pollution, and pungent smells that used to cause headaches among locals will be eliminated as a result of this decision.

Standing Committee Chairman of AMC, Harish Barot, told the media, “By 2024, Ahmebdad will get rid of Kharicut. 14 kms long stretch of this canal will be covered by 100 feet road, and water will flow from under. This will give people relief from traffic as well as pollution”.

AMC in June last year had given the green light to ₹1200 crore Kharicut canal redevelopment project involving the installation of continuous precast parapet boxes over the 22km canal, the upgrade of 40 bridges, and the installation of 40 small green patches and fountains along the canal. DeshGujarat
