Surat: After a period of 41 days, Gujarat has witnessed its first corona-related death in Surat, which also happens to be the first Covid death in the city in six months. Meanwhile, the number of new and active Covid cases is steadily increasing in the state. On Friday, 24 new patients were identified, bringing the total number of active cases to 151. Among the new cases, Ahmedabad city reported eleven cases, Mehsana had three, and Rajkot, Surat cities and Surat district each had two.

Of the 151 active cases, only one person is on a ventilator. Ahmedabad has the highest number of active cases with 87, followed by Rajkot with 17, and Surat with 12. Vadodara and Amreli each have 8 active cases. DeshGujarat
