Gujarat CM Bhupendrabhai has set an example of simplicity and integrity in public life: PM Modi

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi admired Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for setting an example of simplicity and integrity.

The PM in a tweet admired the Chief Minister Patel over a news report on how Patel from his own pocket paid the cost of air ambulance for journey from Ahmedabad to Mumbai in which his son was airlifted for stroke treatment.

The report also informed that the CM went to Mumbai to inquire about health of his son five times in regular domestic flight and didn’t use the Government of Gujarat owned aircraft or even didn’t seek private plane from any industrialist.

Chief Minister’s son is hospitalized in Hinduja hospital in Mumbai for stroke treatment. Chief Minister’s only son Anuj Patel (37) suffered brain stroke on 30th April at his residence in Ahmedabad. He was hospitalized immediately at private run KD hospital nearby where he underwent a surgery. Later he was airlifted to Hinduja hospital in Mumbai where he underwent another surgery. Anuj Patel is still undergoing medical treatment in Mumbai. The Chief Minister had skipped the Gujarat Day events on 30th April and 1st May in Jamnagar following his son’s poor health.

The Prime Minister today in a tweet quoting the BJP Gujarat handle and the image of the news article stated: ‘Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel has set an excellent example of integrity and simplicity in public life. I have faith and trust that his conduct will be an inspiration to millions of people active in public life. I pray for his son Anuj’s speedy recovery.’

Last evening there were rumors, widely circulating on social media that Chief Minister Patel had offered his resignation due to poor health of his only son, and he would soon step down. A message circulating on social media yesterday also claimed that union minister Mansukh Mandaviya or former Gujarat BJP general secretary (organization) Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya would replace Bhupendra Patel as Chief Minister. However highly-placed sources refuted such news strongly and added that actions will be taken against those circulating such messages. DeshGujarat
