Modi opens Burhani Expo of Dawoodi Bohras in Amdavad

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi opened a grand Burhani expo at Amdavad’s Gujarat University Exhibition center today morning.
In his inaugural speech Chief Minister Modi emphasized on importance of peace and harmony for achieving development. Modi termed peace and harmony as pillars of development and added that Gujarat’s development is thanks to peace and harmony.
Modi said he had sent a letter to Bohra community chief Sayedna Saheb requesting him to celebrate his 100th birth anniversary in Gujarat. Modi praised Bohra community for their love for Gujarati language, their love for peace, community’s achievement of having 100% female education, and goodwill that Bohras generate for Gujarat across the world wherever they are. Modi sought Bohra community’s support in fighting the problem of malnutrition in pregnant women and infant children.
Modi praised Bohra community’s vision mentioning that while Mahatma Gandhi established Gujarat Vidyapeeth in 1930, the Bohras established their university 10 years earlier in 1920 in Surat.
The two-day expo with 150 stalls has been organized by Gujarat origin Dawoodi Bohra community which is powerful in different kinds of business and trade. Burhani expo is usually organized annually in Mumbai, Maharashtra since many years. Now on appeal of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, it has been for the first time organized in Amdavad.
The expo is open for all this weekend in Air conditioned exhibition hall. It exhibits variety of products that involve all walks of life.
The inaugural function was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Vijaybhai Rupani, Acting chairman of the 20-point programme implementation committee Shri Kaushik Patel, His holiness Prince of Dawoodi Bohra community, Dwoodi Bohra Amil Saheb, Amdavad’s Mayor, Chairman of the Gujarat Housing Board Jayanti Barot were present in the function.
