Acid attack on Kheda couple while they were asleep; Complaint registered

Kheda: In a recent incident of an acid attack in Umiyapura, here, an unidentified assailant escaped after pouring acid on a couple while they were asleep on Sunday night.

The victims, Rajeshbhai Dabhi (age 48, residing in Thakorvas, Umiyapura), a free wage laborer, and his wife Laxmiben (age 30) were asleep on the night of Sunday, 30th July. Suddenly, a person poured acid on Rajeshbhai’s throat and chest, causing him to wake up and shout. The acid also fell on his wife Laxmiben’s head, mouth, hands, and left leg. Upon hearing their cries, their son Ajay and other neighbors rushed to the scene and promptly shifted the couple to LG Hospital via a 108 ambulance.

Kheda city police have registered a case against the unidentified accused based on Rajeshbhai’s complaint. The incident is believed to have occurred due to personal enmity. Rajeshbhai sustained 40 percent burns, and Laxmiben suffered 10 to 15 percent burns.
