Conman Kiran Patel arrested in Morbi businessman cheating case
August 10, 2023
Ahmedabad: Conman Kiran Patel was today arrested on a transfer warrant by the city police Crime Branch here and produced in the rural court. Kiran Patel is accused of cheating one Bharat Patel, a businessman from Morbi. Kiran did not deliver the promise after taking Rs. 48 lakh from Bharat Patel.
Kiran had previously been arrested for impersonating an officer within the Prime Minister’s Office. This complaint was filed by a Morbi-based businessman against Kiran Patel in May. The complaint alleges that Kiran Patel deceived the businessman of a substantial amount by promising to assist in obtaining a permit from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) for his chemical business. Kiran had portrayed himself as a Class 1 officer in 2017 and asserted connections with influential figures. However, despite Kiran’s assurances of securing GPCB clearances and licenses, the businessman never received the promised authorizations.
After further investigation in 2018, Bharat Patel found that Kiran had not made any efforts to secure the required clearances. The case now involves allegations of impersonation, breach of trust, cheating, and criminal conspiracy against both Kiran Patel and his wife, Malini Patel. These allegations are in addition to the six prior cases of cheating that had been filed against Kiran Patel by the Gujarat police. DeshGujarat
