Vadodara Co. Director and GAIL Executive Director among 5 held by CBI in bribe case

Vadodara: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) apprehended an Executive Director of the Government of India-run GAIL and four others late on Monday night in connection with an alleged bribery case involving Rs 50 lakhs. The accusation suggests that this money was exchanged to provide advantages to certain contractors engaged in gas pipeline projects.

According to reports, K.B. Singh, GAIL’s Executive Director of Projects, has been arrested along with four others, including Surender Kumar, the Director of Advance Infrastructures located on Vasna – Bhayli Main Rd in Vadodara. The alleged bribery is related to securing favourable outcomes for the company in two GAIL pipeline projects, namely, from Srikakulam to Angul and from Vijaypur to Auraiya.

The CBI initiated an operation on Monday after getting a tip off about the bribe. The arrest came following extensive raids conducted for several hours at Singh’s home in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Search operations are still underway at various locations in Delhi, Noida, and Visakhapatnam in connection with this case. DeshGujarat
