India-Pakistan Match: Don’t carry water bottles to stadium, 4 Lakh ltr of drinking water arranged
October 13, 2023
Ahmedabad: The highly anticipated World Cup match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Over 1 lakh people are expected to be in attendance. However, intense heat is also expected, prompting organizers to arrange for water for the spectators attending the match, which will be provided completely free of charge.
This initiative aims to meet the potential demand for approximately three and a half lakh liters of water due to the heat. Thus, arrangements have been made for four lakh liters of water. A water station will be set up in the cafeteria area of the stadium, where spectators will be required to get up and help themselves to the water, provided in paper cups.
After consuming the water, spectators are kindly requested to dispose of their paper cups in the designated bins provided in the vicinity. It’s worth noting that in the past, there have been instances of bottles being thrown on the ground during matches. That’s why the organizers have banned water bottles on the ground. This decision also aims to ensure cleanliness inside the stadium
Spectators will spend over 12 hours in the stadium, with arrivals starting at 9 am and entry allowed from 10 am. Given the expected heat during this time, providing water is crucial. Furthermore, an entertainment program has been organized for the audience before the match begins at half-past one. Nevertheless, during the first innings, the audience may urgently require water due to the high temperatures.
Harsh Sanghvi, addressing this matter earlier, emphasized the expected large number of spectators attending the match and urged them to stay hydrated to prevent dehydration in the hot weather. The match organizers have made all necessary arrangements to accommodate the guests visiting Gujarat for the match. In preparation for the event, Harsh Sanghvi held a one-hour meeting with senior state police officials, discussing various aspects, including security arrangements at the stadium, before inspecting the venue on Thursday.
