Five nabbed in Banaskantha while fleeing to Rajasthan after raping, robbing woman in Shilaj

Ahmedabad: In a shocking incident a woman living alone in a society in Shilaj here was gang-raped by five men after they held her hostage in her own flat. The Banaskantha Police have nabbed all five perpetrators who fled after committing the alleged crimes of gangrape and robbery here on Thursday night. It has been revealed that all five suspects were employed as security guards in different areas of Ahmedabad.

During the Thursday night, these criminals cut the electricity connection to the woman’s flat in an apartment near DPS school, close to Shilaj village. Subsequently, they entered her apartment and carried out the gang rape. They also attempted to assault another woman. Additionally, the perpetrators looted the victim’s house, taking cash and a laptop. Following the nightmarish incident, the terrified victim approached the police station early in the morning and lodged a complaint.

The Ahmedabad rural police responding to the crime initiated a search for the suspects who had fled. As the accused fled towards Palanpur, the Banaskantha police was alerted. Police teams, including Banaskantha LCB, conducted investigations and nabbed all five suspects from a private travel bus passing through Aroma Circle in Palanpur. These individuals were attempting to escape to Rajasthan.

Banaskantha police have detained the five accused in connection with the gangrape and robbery case. All of them were employed as security guards in different areas of Ahmedabad. The names of the five accused are as follows: Amritpalsingh, aka Goldy Nirmalsingh, Manjit Singh, alias Ajay Jagjit Singh, Rahul Singh, Vinod Singh Bansilal, Hariyom, aka Lalji Komalsing Jaising Thakur, Sukhwinder, alias Akash Jagjit Singh

Banaskantha SP Akshayraj Makwana said “After the incident of gangrape and robbery in Ahmedabad’s rural area, they received information from the Ahmedabad rural police that the suspects were leaving Gujarat for Rajasthan. Therefore, all teams from Banaskantha LCB and local police were involved in setting up roadblocks. Since there was no information about the vehicle the suspects used to flee, the police conducted an investigation with the help of human intelligence to trace their whereabouts. The LCB team caught all five suspects from a bus passing through Aroma Circle in Palanpur, and all relevant evidence has been seized.” DeshGujarat
