Mercedes and Audi cars collide during early morning race on Sindhu Bhavan Road

Ahmedabad: The city witnessed another incident of alleged rash driving, reportedly under the influence of alcohol. One Rishit Patel has been accused of involvement in a car race on Sindhu Bhavan Road around 3 a.m. on Monday morning, resulting in a collision involving three cars, including a Mercedes SUV and an Audi. Fortunately, no major injuries or loss of life occurred in the incident. The accused has been nabbed by the police.

The incident occurred near SG Highway on Sindhu Bhawan Road, involving an overspeeding Mercedes that collided with two cars.

The Choksi family from South Bhopal was heading home from Pakwan around 3 a.m. When they were driving near Sindhu Bhavan Garden on Sindhu Bhavan Road, a Mercedes and an Audi were racing, leading to a loss of control and subsequent collision. The collision was so powerful that the car driving in the third lane rolled over above the dividers, said Bhavesh Chowski, who was inside the car with his family when the Mercedes struck them from behind.

The impact was severe; the Mercedes’ driver’s side front tyre dislodged, compelling the car to stop. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, revealing sparks as the responsible car raced past, indicating an incredible speed.

Following the accident, the Mercedes driver, Rishit Patel, abandoned the luxury car but was later apprehended by the police. Rishi’s social media exhibited his reckless lifestyle, showcasing videos and photos of car racing, which led to his arrest.

On the allegations that he was driving the car at a speed of 150 to 200 Rishit Patel, the accused, stated to the media that he was attacked at the scene, the speed of his car was only 80, and he was not racing. He mentioned being out with a friend and denied intoxication, offering to provide a blood sample for verification.

An investigation has been initiated into the complainant’s allegations and the accused’s self-defense statement. The blood sample of Rishit Mayur Patel has been collected, and the results will determine whether he was intoxicated. Additionally, a police report on the car’s speed, assisted by the FSL, has been prepared to ascertain the actual speed. Furthermore, the traffic police have taken steps to acquire CCTV footage from the incident location and its surroundings.

It is also learned that the friends of the accused here took off the number plates of the abandoned car involved in the accident. DeshGujarat
