Sanathal Flyover on SP Ring Road closed for 6 days

Ahmedabad: The Sanathal flyover on the SP Ring Road in the city will be shut down by the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (Auda) for a six-day period starting from today till December 21st. The closure is necessary for the repair of potholes and resurfacing of the road on the flyover.

Opened to the public in March at a cost of Rs 96 crore, the 1.38km flyover developed potholes during the rainy season in June, causing inconvenience and safety concerns.

Due to the defect liability period of three years for the road surface, the civic body issued a notice to the contractor, Rachana Construction Co, and the project management consultant, Casad Consultants. An inquiry into the matter was also initiated by experts from the department of transport and highways SVNIT, Surat.

Due to the festive season of Diwali, the flyover was not closed for transport just after the rainy season. Now, AUDA has decided to close the flyover for resurfacing. The contractor will bear the cost of the resurfacing process. DeshGujarat
