GUJSAIL Complex at Ahmedabad Airport to relocate amid expansion plans
December 19, 2023
Ahmedabad: As the city airport undergoes expansion GUJSAIL (Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Limited) complex will also be relocated. This relocation will make space for power plant near the runway. This complex, which handles VIP movements such as those of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister, will be moved to a new location still in close proximity to the runway.
With the overhaul of the domestic terminal in motion, the master plan has already been submitted to the Airport Authority of India for approval.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) currently operates more than 280 daily flights, serving approximately 30,000 passengers. With a surge in both international and domestic flights, the airport is expanding its services, including immigration counters, security zones, parking facilities, and check-in desks.
The proposed plan is awaiting approval from the Airport Authority of India and the state government.
Airport sources have indicated, “GUJSAIL is associated with VVIP movement, and the Air Ambulance service has also been highly successful. Security considerations have been given priority in planning the new building space.” The tender for the current GUJSAIL building was initially floated by the state government in 2010, and it became operational in 2014.
The relocation of the GUJSAIL building has been discussed previously, generating debates about its quality and facilities about a year ago. However, it appears that a consensus is now being reached among government and management officials, suggesting a probable approval of the relocation plan. DeshGujarat
