ACB nabs 3 staffers of Vijapur Mamlatdar office in bribe case

Mehsana: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today nabbed three individuals working in the Mamlatdar office of Vijapur taluka for their involvement in a bribe case amounting to ₹15,000.

According to the case details, the son-in-law and the nephew of the complainant were lodged in the Vijapur sub-jail for a crime registered at the Mehsana Vasai police station. The complainant’s son-in-law was suffering from a heart ailment, and his treatment was ongoing at Vadnagar Civil Hospital. To stop the transfer of the two detainees from Vijapur sub-jail to Mehsana sub-jail, the complainant reached out to accused Bhavin Parmar, a criminal clerk (jailer), and Jaimin Mistry, the deputy Mamlatdar (supply) at the Vijapur Mamlatdar Office.  However, the accused demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 to not carry out the transfer.

As the complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe, he contacted the ACB. In a trap set up by the ACB, Kalpesh Makwana, working as a peon (outsourced) in the Mamlatdar Office, was caught red-handed accepting the bribe on behalf of accused Bhavin Parmar. All the accused have been detained by the ACB, and further proceedings are ongoing. DeshGujarat
