Kutch: The cultural heritage of Gujarat will take center stage at the Republic Day National Parade this year. A tableau based on the theme ‘Dhordo: Global recognition of Gujarat’s border tourism’ will proceed along the Kartavya Path during the National Parade on January 26th in New Delhi.
The main attractions of this tableau will be the “Bhunga” houses of Dhordo, acknowledged by UNWTO, along with local handicrafts, Rogan art, the “Rann Utsav,” tent city, and Garba, which was recently declared ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ by UNESCO.
French President Emmanuel Macron is set to be the chief guest at the event.
A total of 26 tableaux are set to participate in the parade this year. Out of these, 16 will represent various states and union territories, while the remaining 10 are going to showcase the contributions of ministries, departments, and organizations.
Participating states include Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Ladakh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.
Dhordo, recognised by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) as one of the ‘best tourism villages in 2023,’ will be prominently featured, highlighting the distinctive fusion of tradition, tourism, and technology that characterises the essence of a “developed India”. DeshGujarat
