Carpet controversy at Vadodara airport !
March 09, 2024
Vadodara: A carpet at Vadodara airport has raised a controversy. The airport which comes under the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has a carpet on which Dandiya playing male and female are depicted. The city-based social worker Swejal Vyas in a Facebook post gave the ultimatum to AAI to remove the carpet in seven days or face legal actions.
Vyas in his Facebook post opined – Garbo is a religious symbol of Mataji, where all Hindus play Garba to worship Mataji. That Garba symbol is kept on the carpet and some people even spit on it and walk while wearing shoes. My faith is offended by seeing this, such an infidel act, and it’s not happening in Pakistan but in our Vadodara, and it has been going on for many months now. Whoever comes to Vadodara, first of all he has to step on this Garba symbol because this carpet has been installed in the main part of Vadodara Airport. If Vadodara Airport Authority does not remove this carpet within 7 days, agitation and legal action will be taken against them.
It’s worth noting that Vadodara is known as Garba capital of the world, thanks to its authentic and largely participated Garba nights during Navratri. DeshGujarat
