March 22, 2024
Vadodara: City Congress President Rutvij Joshi was questioned for more than five hours on Friday regarding the hanging of banners criticizing BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate, sitting MP Ranjan Bhatt, in various locations across the city earlier in the week.
Four arrests had been made in the case, involving two separate incidents in the banner row. Police revealed on Friday that Joshi’s name had emerged during the interrogation of the arrested individuals. Joshi, accompanied by senior Congress leaders including Chandrakant Shrivastav and members of the party’s legal cell, appeared at the Warasiya police station to cooperate with the investigation.
Earlier in the week, the Warasiya police had arrested Congress office bearer Harish Odh under two bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Representation of People Act for his involvement in the banners displayed in the Karelibaug area. Additionally, the Atladara police station arrested two individuals for erecting anti-BJP banners in the Vadsar area of the city. DeshGujarat
