Insects found in food at Gaylord Cafe in Vadodara

Vadodara: In yet another case, insects were found in the food served at a restaurant in the city. A customer dining at Gaylord cafe, located behind the Railway Station, found insects in the dosa twice in two days.
A customer named Kartik told the media, “Two days ago, I ordered a South Indian dish, Dosa, in which there was an insect. I brought this to the notice of the manager. The manager assured me that it wouldn’t happen again, and I let it go, considering it a mistake. However, when I came today and ordered the dosa again, there were insects and mosquitoes in it.”
“When I informed the manager again, he said the problem is with the batter (Kheeru), which is outsourced and can go bad due to heat. But how can insects come in the batter due to heat?” the customer said.
The customer stated that being near the railway station, the cafe is famous and visited by many people. So, who will be responsible if the customer gets food poisoning due to unhygienic conditions?.
Imranbhai, the owner of Gaylord restaurant, stated, “We maintain cleanliness in the hotel, and there are no issues here. What this person is alleging is incorrect. The batter doesn’t stay for more than a day. We procure ready-made batter, which might be the issue itself. I will inform the supplier about this and investigate further.”
The food department of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation has taken action and collected samples of Dosa batter, Sambhar, sugar, and tea from the restaurant. It is also learned that the food joint lacks medical certificates and water reports. Therefore, a Schedule-4 notice has been issued, and further steps are being taken in this matter. DeshGujarat
