Surat: Just days after the polling for the Lok Sabha Elections in Gujarat, the Income Tax Department has launched major search operations at multiple locations. The IT department has been carrying out searches since Thursday morning at around 12 locations in the city, including Aaiswarya Dyeing Mills Pvt. Ltd. in Vareli. Searches are also taking place at the coal traders linked with Aaiswarya Mills.
These 12 premises include three coal importers with offices on Dumas Road who are under the radar of IT sleuths due to suspicion arising from their transactions worth crores. Over 100 officials of the Income Tax department are part of this major operation that has been ongoing since yesterday.
In addition to Aishwarya Dyeing Mill major coal traders such as S.N. Tradelink, Taranjot Group, and Adarsh Coal are being investigated. It is learned that the Income Tax department had received a tip-off that trading of coal has been done in cash, which is the reason for the ongoing investigation.
Reportedly, a substantial amount of documents linked to the group’s undisclosed financial transactions in coal as well as real estate have been seized by the IT officials.
It is also noteworthy that the IT Department took action in Ahmedabad with raids on several Angadia firms late Thursday night. DeshGujarat
