Navsari: Local residents of Ajrai village in Gandevi Taluka, came out in protest against the establishment of a factory in their area. In the aftermath of the Rajkot TRP Game Zone fire incident, the locals are protesting the opening of a factory in a residential area.
A biofuel manufacturing factory has been established in an area where there are over 150 houses, including the kachha houses of the Halpati community. The villagers have warned of agitation if the factory is not closed.
A local resident said, “I only have one demand: there should be a change in the movement policy regarding non-agricultural land. How can a factory be allowed to operate on such fertile land? If the village is cleaned up like this, how will agriculture take place in the future? I smell corruption as no norms seem to be followed. Secondly, it is a residential area. If an industry has to be set up, it should be in an industrial zone. This factory should be removed; if it is allowed, 10 more will come.” DeshGujarat
