Vadodara: Tarsali-based Sarvottam Hotel has been served a notice by Vadodara Municipal Corporation’s (VMC) food safety officer for serving soup containing a dead lizard. Sarvottam Hotel is located near Tarsali on the Ahmedabad-Surat highway. The notice has been served to it under Schedule 4.
Bharuch-based Pravinkumar told media persons that he and his friend had visited Pavagadh for darshan at Kalika Mandir. While returning from the pilgrimage, at around 10:30 p.m., they went to Sarvottam Hotel for dinner. Pravinkumar further stated that his friend’s wife ordered Manchow soup and consumed it partially, after which she spotted a dead lizard in it. Initially, she refused to believe that such a thing could actually happen, but when she poured the soup into the dish, it was realized that there was indeed a dead lizard.
The friends captured a video of the dish and called the waiter. The hotel manager, Aabid Khan, arrived there, and after initial refusal, he apologized. Pravinbhai, as an alert citizen, called VMC’s food department official. The team of VMC reached Sarvottam Hotel and collected samples of Veg Manchow soup and paneer. They served a notice under Schedule 4 to Sarvottam Restaurant. In this notice, the restaurant is asked to make its kitchen hygienic or face suspension of the food license.DeshGujarat
