IIT Gandhinagar’s program trains 228 participants in six skill courses

Gandhinagar: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar conducted six skill development courses from April to June 2024 under its community outreach program, NEEV in collaboration with the Desai Foundation Trust. These courses targeted youth and women from rural Gandhinagar, aiming to equip them with essential skills for personal and professional growth.
A total of 228 participants completed the training programs and received certificates during the closing session held on June 13, 2024. Women and youth from villages such as Palaj, Basan, Chiloda, and Dabhoda, along with residents from several other nearby peri-urban areas in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad cities, participated in these courses.
The courses included 26 participants in Stitching, 36 in Beautician training, 91 in two batches of basic Computer courses, 43 in Spoken-English, and 32 in Nail Art Design. Soumya Harish, NEEV Coordinator, highlighted the importance of these courses in empowering marginalized communities by providing them with pathways to improve their livelihoods, education, and career prospects.
