AUDA starts constructing Shilaj and Sindhu Bhavan overbridges in Ahmedabad
July 10, 2024
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has started construction of overbridges at Shilaj Circle and Sindhu Bhavan Junction on the SP Ring Road. With an estimated cost of Rs 237 crore, the bridges will connect these junctions with the railway overbridge to address increasing traffic problems.
AUDA’s project includes building a 0.83 km bridge at Shilaj Circle for Rs 119.70 crore and a 0.87 km bridge at Sindhu Bhavan Junction for Rs 118.29 crore. Both bridges will be 27 metres wide and are expected to be completed within two years. The contract for this construction has been awarded to Rachna Construction. Work has begun on the PQC road next to the bridge.
To minimise traffic disruption during construction, AUDA will first build side service roads on the SP Ring Road. This will ensure that traffic can flow in both directions without any blockages. Once the service roads are complete, the main bridge construction will proceed between the circles on the ring road.
Upon completion, the overbridges will streamline traffic from Bopal to Sindhu Bhavan and from Shilaj to Thaltej. Drivers will be able to travel under the bridges or use the side routes to avoid traffic jams, providing smoother transit between these key areas. DeshGujarat
