CBI caught Rajkot CGST inspector in bribe case; middleman still at large

Gandhinagar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Gandhinagar caught Navin Dhankar, an inspector of CGST, Rajkot, Division-2,  for accepting a Rs 2.5 lakh bribe. Dhankar handed this bribe amount to his middleman, who then fled and is still at large. The CBI is in an attempt to find the middleman, while Dhankar has been remanded for five days.

Sources from the CBI revealed that Dhankar pressured a company trading brass scrap in Jamnagar and threatened to cancel their GST number. The company contacted the CBI and laid a trap, resulting in Dhankar’s arrest.

Dhankar had arranged a monthly bribe installment of Rs 2.5 lakh through his middleman before the CBI foiled the plan. Dhankar previously worked in the Rajkot CGST headquarters (preventive) and continued his corrupt practices when posted in Division-2. DeshGujarat
