Vadodara: A video from Karnali Anganwadi in Dabhoi taluka has gone viral, depicting young children being taught about Eid celebrations and how to perform namaz during school hours. The video shows children made to wear headscarves, participate in namaz, learn about Eid rituals like cooking biryani, greeting Eid Mubarak, and chanting “Ya Hussain” during tajiya.

The teacher at the Anganwadi had posted these photos and videos on social media depicting children learning and chanting during the session. The teacher had even tied kerchiefs on the heads of children. 

Dabhoi BJP MLA Shailesh Sotta has raised concerns about these activities being conducted during school hours. He has brought the matter to the attention of the state’s Primary and Secondary Education Minister, Kuberbhai Dindor, and the District Development officer Mamtaben Hirpara. 

The MLA also questioned whether the teacher obtained proper authorization to introduce Islamic religious practices in the classroom and whether these activities aligned with the educational curriculum. 

The teacher stated that teaching festivals like Eid, Janmashtami, Navratri, among others, is part of the curriculum. She emphasized that the children shown performing namaz in the video belong to minority communities, not Hindus.
