Mumbai Police nabs Vadodara youth for bomb threat at Ambani wedding

Vadodara: Mumbai Police have arrested an individual from the city for a bomb threat at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai during the wedding of industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s son, Anant, with Radhika Merchant. The wedding was attended by many prominent personalities, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Anant and Radhika’s wedding took place from July 12th to July 15th at the Jio Convention Center in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. On July 13th, a threat was posted on social media by a man, stating that a bomb would be detonated.

Mumbai Police took this social media threat seriously, enhancing security around the wedding venue. With the assistance of the bomb squad and sniffer dogs, every corner was checked, and it was determined that the threat was a hoax. However, the Mumbai Cyber Crime Department launched an investigation to identify the perpetrators of the social media threat. After investigation, it was revealed that the tweet was posted by one 32-year-old engineer Viral Kalpeshbhai Ashra, residing in Suvarna Lakshmi Apartment No. A-16, Waghodia Road, Vadodara.

Upon obtaining this information, the police inspector in charge of the Mumbai Crime Branch dispatched a team to Vadodara. The local police, specifically the SOG Branch, collaborated with the Bapod Police as Viral was residing within their jurisdiction. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, senior police officers were also informed. Subsequently, Mumbai Police, with the assistance of Vadodara Police, proceeded to Viral’s residence and took him under custody to take him to Mumbai.

The social media threat was posted in English, stating, “My mind is completely baffled that half of the world would be turned upside down tomorrow if a bomb goes off at the Ambani wedding, trillions of dollars in one zip code.” The message suggested that the wedding was a significant event and insinuated that a bomb explosion would cause widespread disruption.
