Divyangs and seniors citizens to get free bus rides in Rajkot

Rajkot: Individuals such as Divyangs, elderly people, juvenile diabetic patients, and others falling into 21 categories of disabilities will receive free passes for the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) and city bus rides in Rajkot.
According to Jaimin Thakar, chairman of RMC’s standing committee, individuals over 60 years old, juveniles with diabetes, survivors of acid attacks, and those with physical challenges such as thalassemia, muscular dystrophy, hemophilia, chronic neurological conditions, and Parkinson’s disease are eligible to apply for the free bus passes.
Similarly, individuals with past medical conditions like leprosy, sickle cell anaemia, locomotor disability, cerebral palsy, dwarfism, mental illness, multiple sclerosis, specific learning disabilities, speech and language disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder can apply, provided they submit medical documents along with proof of residence and identity.
Disabled applicants need a certificate from a government hospital’s civil surgeon, certifying either 100% blindness or a minimum of 40% disability for those who are deaf and mute.
Thakar noted that this initiative was announced during this year’s RMC budget, and now, the guidelines have been finalized, with applications available starting Monday. DeshGujarat
