Gujarat recieves over 52% rain of average monsoon; 46 dams 100% full, 4200 shifted, 535 rescued, 9 deaths

Gandhinagar: Gujarat has received over 52 perecent rain of average monsoon season this year till 6 pm today. The State has received 52.23 percent rainfall. The highest 75.50 percent is in Kutch, 26.71% in North Gujarat, 31.38% in East-Central Gujarat, 73.36% in Saurashtra region, while 62.03% in South Gujarat. 74 talukas have received over 500 mm rainfall.

So far over 4,200 people are shifted to safer places across 7 districts, while 535 persons are rescued. 13 teams of NDRF are deployed in addition to 20 teams of SDRF. 2 teams of NDRF are kept reserved.

9 deaths are reported in connection with heavy rainfall on 23 July – 3 in Dwarka, 2 each in Banaskantha and Kutch, 1 each in Surat and Rajkot. Some of them died due to drowing while some others due to strike of lightning.

30 rain affected closures of roads are cleared and roads are reopened. 5817 villages witnessed disruption in power supply of which 5796 later normalized.

46 dams in the State are 100% full, 25 are 70 to 100% full, 41 are 50-70% full, 69 are below 25% full. Out of 206 dams in the state, 51 are put on high alert, 8 are on alert mode, 12 are in warning stage.
