Railway budget for Gujarat rises to Rs 8743 crore for 2024-25; 14.84 times higher than under UPA govt

Delhi: The budget for railway infrastructure projects in Gujarat has seen a substantial rise. For 2024-25, the allocation has reached ₹8,743 crore, marking a 14.84-fold increase compared to the average annual budget from 2009-14.

The funds are driving progress on 42 railway infrastructure projects across Gujarat. These projects span 2,947 km and have a combined cost of ₹30,826 crore.

The 6 new line projects cover 537 km and cost ₹7,810 crore. The 22 gauge conversion projects span 1,634 km and cost ₹13,756 crore. The 14 doubling projects stretch over 776 km and cost ₹9,260 crore.

Since 2014, the budget for railway infrastructure projects in Gujarat has increased notably. For 2023-24, the allocation was ₹8,332 crore, 14.15 times higher than the average annual budget of ₹589 crore from 2009-14. The allocation for 2024-25 is ₹8,743 crore, 14.84 times higher than the 2009-14 average.
