Ahemdabad: The teams of the CID crime branch of Gujarat Police conducted raids at several hotels and spas in Ahmedabad and the state capital, Gandhinagar, on late Monday night. Around 30 locations were raided in both cities as part of an investigation into activities related to prostitution.
It is learned that women of foreign origin and their customers have been nabbed from 14 such places. The nabbed women are from Russia and Nigeria.
As of now, a complaint has been filed against one Mohsin Memon, hailing from Sabarkantha, who was running two spa centers: Myra Spa in the Satellite area of Ahmedabad and another spa in the Sargasan area of Gandhinagar.
The raids came after a tip-off that women from Russia and Nigeria were being brought to India on tourist visas and were being used in the prostitution business. Acting on the information, the CID crime branch raided 30 locations where foreign women were allegedly involved in the crime. The locations that were raided included several spas and hotels, such as Ginger Hotel on SG Highway, Pragati the Grand in the Thaltej area, and Pride Plaza on Judges Bungalow Road. DeshGujarat
