Food Court to come up at Vastrapur lake garden in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced that it will construct a new food court at Vastrapur Lake Garden in the city. The food court will be built on the amphitheater site within Vastrapur Lake.

Given that the amphitheater has not been used much, the space will be repurposed to accommodate around 55 stalls, which will be leased, with preference given to those who currently run food lorries outside Vastrapur Lake.

The amphitheatre covers a total area of 5,580 square meters, where 55 food stalls will be established featuring a special tensile structure canopy. Additionally, 700 square meters will be designated for a dining area, and toilet facilities will be built as well.

Additionally, changes will be made to the re-development plan of the lake, including the construction of a strong RCC beam grid structure to address the slope of the lake. The civic body will spend an additional Rs. 7 crore on these modifications and the construction of the food court.

Standing Committee Chairman Devang Dani noted that the amphitheatre was underutilized, with only 20 bookings per year, and that the space could be better used to address traffic issues. He also mentioned that the renovation costs have increased because of additional work, including wall reinforcement, lighting, and other new amenities not in the original plan. DeshGujarat
