Schools to remain shut for 3rd consecutive day in flood hit Vadodara

Vadodara: For the third day in a row, schools in Vadodara city and district will remain closed on Thursday as the city is reeling from heavy rain and flooding.

On the instruction of the district collector, the District Education Officer, in an order, stated that due to the heavy rains in the district and the city of Vadodara, the forecast of heavy rains from the Meteorological Department, and the increase in the water level of the Vishwamitri, all government, granted, non-granted, primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools are hereby notified to remain closed tomorrow, Thursday, August 29, 2024.

The city of Vadodara is inundated as the Vishwamitri river water has entered the city. On Tuesday, the water level of the Vishwamitri rose well above the danger level. The administration has closed the gates of the Ajwa and Pratap Reservoirs to bring down the water level in the river, but the Vishwamitri is still 9 feet above the danger mark of 26 feet. The city will only be able to return to its routine once the water level of the Vishwamitri goes below 30 feet. DeshGujarat
