Ahmedabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is carrying out a major operation against various call centers accused of defrauding foreign nationals of their money.
According to information, around 35 call centers in Ahmedabad and neighboring areas were raided by a CBI team consisting of approximately 350 personnel, including officers from Delhi. The Gujarat Police headquarters in Gandhinagar has also been informed and asked to provide assistance if needed. These raids have been ongoing since late last night and include call centers in the eastern part of Ahmedabad.
The CBI has intensified its efforts to combat cyber fraud, focusing on call centers involved in these scams. After conducting similar raids in cities like Visakhapatnam, Kolkata, and Hyderabad, the agency has now expanded its operations to Ahmedabad.
These fraudulent call centers lured foreign nationals with fake loan and credit card offers, later using threats or deception to extort money from them. Numerous complaints have been filed regarding these scams.
Interestingly, many of these illegal operations were conducted primarily at night, which explains the timing of the overnight raids. DeshGujarat
