October 08, 2024
Navsari: As the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from most of Gujarat and is likely to withdraw further in the next few days, there has been no significant rainfall in the last few days. During the last 24 hours ending at 6 a.m. today, none of the 251 talukas received any rainfall. The weather remained dry throughout the day and night. This comes as great news for Garba lovers, as the nine-day Navratri festival is ongoing.
According to the latest IMD bulletin, the line of withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon continues to pass through 29°N/84°E, Nautanwa, Sultanpur, Panna, Narmadapuram, Khargaon, Nandurbar, Navsari, and 20°N/70°E. Additionally, conditions are favorable for the further withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from the remaining parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and more parts of Maharashtra in the next 2-3 days.
Meanwhile, as of Monday morning, i.e., 7th October, Gujarat has completed 137.63% of its average monsoon rainfall for the season. This year, the state has received around 1215.31 mm of rain against an average of 883 mm (based on data from 1994-2023). However, one district, namely Banaskantha, out of the 33 in the state, is still lagging behind and has not yet achieved 100% of the average rainfall.
Among the regions, South Gujarat has received the highest amount of rain, with 2109.63 mm, followed by Saurashtra with 1091.15 mm, and East Central Gujarat with 1077.73 mm. Meanwhile, Kutch and North Gujarat recorded average rainfall of 896.40 mm and 838.61 mm, respectively.
The IMD has predicted dry weather in the state of Gujarat until 14th October. DeshGujarat
