October 23, 2024
Surat: Rizwan Syed assumed a Hindu person’s name to cheat a trader in the textile market. The matter reached the police after the accused engaged in buying and selling cloth worth Rs. 70.03 lakh.
According to the complaint, one Prajnesh Mansukh Vaghani, aka Pintu (30 years old), owns a textile factory named Mit Creation in Dheeraj Industries, Vareli. He met broker Anil Hasmukh Chevli in August 2023, who arranged a meeting between Pintu and accused Jagdish Kumawat, who was running a business under the name of Mahaveer Trading in Kadiwala House in Khatodara GIDC.
Jagdish initially bought goods worth Rs. 10 lakh, and payments were made on time to establish trust. Later, over a period of 10 months until June 2024, 66 bills totaling Rs. 72.03 lakh were created for cloth purchases, but payment was never made. Later, when attempts were made to collect the pending payment, it was revealed that the person identified as Jagdish Kumawat was actually Rizwan Syed Abid Hussain. When asked for the money, he threatened the victim.
Subsequently, the matter reached the Udhna police station, where the police registered a case against five individuals based on the manufacturer’s complaint and arrested Rizwan Syed and Mahesh Ramji Bhalani, who had promised to pay the money himself. It has also come to light that, in addition to the office in Khatodara GIDC, the gang was running two offices in Saroli and one more office in Godadara. DeshGujarat
