CONCOR to launch Double-Stack Container Train from Dadri to Varnama

Vadodara: The Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) will start operating a double-stack container train from Dadri to Varnama (Vadodara district) in the next two months. This will enable the transportation of 180 containers (TEU) in a single train, leading to faster movement of goods at a lower cost, said Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) CMD Sanjay Swaroop.

Sanjay Swaroop addressed a conclave on Federation of Gujarat Industries (FGI) Supply Chain Management Issues and Challenges at the FGI Business Center. He stated that the work in progress for the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) from Varnama to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) will be completed by December 2025. Goods will be sent via a single-stack container train along the Indian Railway line from Varnama. Similarly, a single-stack container train will arrive from JNPT to Varnama. Containers will then be sent from Varnama to Dadri using a double-stack container train, thereby enhancing the efficiency of supply chain management.

Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) Director Shobhit Bhatnagar mentioned that the 2,843 km of dedicated freight corridors across seven states will be crucial for the rapid movement of goods. Deshgujarat
