January 10, 2025
Patan: Congress workers at Pratham Vihar Society in Ambaji Neliya area of Patan city staged protest against the installation of smart meters by the Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (UGVCL) staff.
The incident occurred on Thursday when UGVCL staff arrived at the society to install the new meters. As the Congress leaders got information of such procedure, the Congress workers arrived at the location and strongly opposed the move, citing concerns about potential inflated electricity bills.
Dipak Patel, President of the Patan City Congress, along with other party members, visited the society and obstructed the smart meter installation drive. They argued that the government should not force the installation of smart meters on unwilling consumers and demanded that the current installation process be halted immediately. DeshGujarat
