Lioness rescued from 35-foot-deep well in Jafrabad, Amreli

Jafrabad: A lioness fell into a 35-foot-deep well late at night in Vadhera village of Jafrabad. While searching for prey, she accidentally fell into the open well. Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from the Jafrabad Forest Department promptly reached the spot and initiated a rescue operation.

The forest officials lowered a cot into the well using ropes, allowing the lioness to climb onto it. Later, they carefully placed a side-shutter cage into the well, safely securing the lioness inside before pulling it out.

Meanwhile, in another incident, the loco pilot of the Amreli-Veraval passenger train averted an accident by stopping in time to save two lionesses on the railway tracks on Wednesday. According to officials, loco pilot Santosh Kumar and his assistant, Bharat Sharma, spotted the lionesses resting on the tracks in the Chalala-Dhari section. They immediately applied emergency brakes, bringing the train to a halt. The train guard informed the forest department, which dispatched trackers to clear the area and ensure the animals’ safety. Once the tracks were secure, the train resumed its journey. DeshGujarat
