March 21, 2025
Bhuj: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today apprehended Chandrikaben Garoda, a Talati-cum-Minister of Deshalpar (Guntli) Gram Panchayat in Nakhatrana taluka, Kutch, for accepting a bribe of ₹2,000.
According to the ACB, a citizen had approached the agency with a complaint against the accused. The complainant had applied for 525 square meters of government land for a hotel business. The land was not classified as “gauchar” (grazing land), and the complainant required a Gram Panchayat certification and an official entry for the same. In exchange, the accused allegedly demanded ₹2,000 via a message on the complainant’s mobile phone.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant reported the matter to the ACB, which then set up a trap operation. During the operation, the accused was caught red-handed at her office while accepting the bribe. DeshGujarat
