Gujarat govt issues advisory to minimize direct sun exposure for workers in afternoons

Gandhinagar: In light of the India Meteorological Department’s forecast of a heatwave from April to June, the Labour Department has issued an advisory instructing precautionary measures to protect workers from heat-related health risks during the afternoon hours.
The notification issued by the Commissionerate of Labour states, “The India Meteorological Department has forecast a heatwave from April to June. It is essential to take precautionary measures to protect workers engaged in various sectors such as industries, construction sites, MNREGA, brick kilns, and other locations across the state from the adverse effects of the heatwave.”
“Keeping this in view, and to safeguard workers involved in different activities from heatstroke and other health risks caused by extreme heat during the ongoing summer season, it is hereby instructed that from April 2025 to June 2025, work in open areas or places directly exposed to sunlight should be carried out in a way that minimizes direct exposure to the sun between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.” DeshGujarat
